Our unique anthill collection of pigments offers a special connection to the earth and the creatures who work the earth. In Uganda, there are different colors of anthills depending on the soil. We needed special permission to collect these colors, and we cannot harm the anthill. The ants are made into tasty snacks in the right season, so people are protective of their anthills.
The colors range from the umber Tuk Catan to the warm gray Anthill Gray. The colors from the anthills are the earth dug by the ants and brought outside, so they are generally quite fine.
The set contains five different pigments collected from anthills in near Lira, Uganda, sealed in 20 ml glass jars. The pigments are packed by weight.
Each pigment is different, but we believe each jar will make about 4-6 full pans of watercolor paint. So, this set should make approximately 25 full pans of watercolor paint!
